Breastfeeding Essentials Gift Basket for Nursing Moms

Posted by Courtney Lopez on

I’m excited to share our Breastfeeding Essentials Gift Basket for Nursing Moms !

Our breastfeeding journey wasn’t easy in the beginning and we had some breastfeeding struggles here and there.  One thing I was always told was to NEVER use a nipple shield, but in reality the Medela Contact Nipple Shield is the reason we were able to nurse in the beginning.  I used the Nipple Shield to breastfeed for the first 7-8 months (the first month we didn’t use it and it was hard to nurse!).  I paid so much to figure it all out between LLCs and even having her lip tie cut.  In the end when she was ready her latch was perfect.  She just suddenly stopped using the nipple shield one day and it was incredible.  I can’t believe we’re about to celebrate 2 1/2 years of nursing!  You can see her nursing with the nipple shield in the picture below.  I had 3 nipple shields at all times.  Just in case I needed one while we were out, if one broke or between cleanings to use another.  Having one is like having one bottle, crazy!

We had a lot of issues with food allergies and baby throwing up while breastfeeding too.  Thankfully once I removed soy from my diet she didn’t suffer any FPIES Food Allergy Reactions.  I’m glad that I stuck it out despite all the breastfeeding issues we did have and now we’re still breastfeeding 2 and a half years long!

Chicken Scampi with Buttery Potatoes

This is a sponsored post with LunchBox, all opinions are our own.

Chicken Scampi with Buttery Potatoes is the perfect meal for your family.  Juicy chicken, a buttery scampi sauce soaked into red potatoes making everyone ask for seconds.

Looking for a quick and easy meal for your family?  How about a delicious appetizer for your friends?  My family is loving I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® Spread recipe for Chicken Scampi Bites.  I’ve tweaked it a bit to our liking and we’ve had it several times over the holiday weeks.  It’s simple to make and a delicious meal to eat.  I really only made a few tweaks to the original recipe, like removing the tomatoes and citrus peel that hubby would most likely push aside, baby girl too (I make her recipe too using pork!).  Actually we’re pretty exited about CHICKEN this month.  Tomorrow we’re heading to the Food Allergist for Kay’s FPIES annual check up.  This month makes 20 months since she has failed chicken and that means it’s time to RETRIAL!   What does that mean?  We get to be admitted to the hospital and watch Kay eat chicken.  Hopefully she passes the food trial and we can cross chicken off the triggers lists!

2015 Mazda CX-9 Review

2015 Mazda CX-9 Review
We test drove the 2015 Mazda CX-9 for a week, all opinions are our own.

2015 Mazda CX-9 AWD

Mazda has become one of my top picks for cars, especially when it comes to safety.  The new 2015 Mazda CX-9 was the perfect size for our family.   We test drove the 2015 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring All Wheel Drive (AWD) in Titanium Flash Mica.  The price is pretty average for an SUV and the cost for the configuration we drove is $39,890 – MSRP: From $29,985.  This vehicle can tow anywhere from 2,000-3,500 lbs, not bad for an SUV!   It also has a ton of trunk space.

Thankfully gas prices are going down so we didn’t need to fill up to much with the CX-9.  One thing I absolutely loved is that on the dash it told me exactly how many miles I had to go before I needed to fill up.  Most cars I have to push a button to find that info and on the CX-9 it’s always displayed.   It has a 20.1 gal tank and you can get up to 16 City, 22 Highway, average 18 MPG.
