Morning Routine for Healthy Teeth and Gums | Coconut Oil Pulling

morning routine for healthy teeth and gums

I just purchased my Essential Oils Premium Kit from Young Living about a month ago, but this isn’t my first time hearing about oils and the benefits they have.  I am all about healing our bodies naturally when we can and buying these oils is a perfect way to ensure that we can do it that way.  I have quite a few favorites in my premium kit and also plan on purchasing a bunch of others that aren’t in the kit. FACT: You can actually use oils to scent you home, naturally, so toss those burning oils, candles, and sprays.  By using the oils you also get bonus health benefits.

WHAT IS THIEVES ESSENTIAL OIL?

Thieves is a magical oil and I already have it on my list to purchase MORE, why?  It can be used for cleansing, supporting the immune system and good health, in your dishwasher to clean thoroughly clean and eliminate odor and so much more.  I’ve started using a small amount of purified water (enough for a mouthful of mouthwash) with a drop of thieves instead of traditional mouthwash.  My mouth feels incredibly clean and refreshed! Plus, if I have a toothache I just put a little drop of thieves right on my gums where the tooth is located using gauze and let it sit for about 30 seconds and remove.  No more ache!

Now on to the coconut oil

we only buy tropical traditions coconut oil, which can be found here.

The benefits of oil pulling are something I’ve been searching for well over a month now.  The thought of swishing around oil in my mouth for 15-20 minutes wasn’t my idea of fun or tasty, but it’s for my health!  What better reason could you ask for?  I’ve had dental issues since the age of 16 thanks to the massive amounts of soda and tea my parents gave me.   I rarely had water to drink and gagged at the thought back then – now it’s all I drink!  By oil pulling you actually draw out all the toxins and bacteria, so you don’t want to swallow it!

HOW TO – OIL PULLING

At the crack of dawn as soon as you open your eyes, open your mouth to coconut oil!  Take about a teaspoon to a tablespoon of coconut oil and place it between your cheek to liquefy.  Once it’s liquid, start swishing!  Swish for about 15-20 minutes drawing the oil between your teeth too!  Eventually your muscles will get used to it, but for now, just keep pushing!! YOU CAN DO IT!  Once you’re done spit it out into the garbage, not the sink, drain, toilet, as it can clog once it hardens.  DO NOT SWALLOW, as the oil now contains all the toxins you just pulled.  To make it easier to swish I highly recommend adding in a little peppermint oil.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Now you have to clean your teeth and make sure you get all the toxic yuck out.  Rinse with a little water.  I then use my toothbrush with a little of my premixed thieves mouthwash (about an ounce or two of water and 3 drops of thieves) and brush, brush!  I then swish with the mixture I mentioned earlier which is the 1 drop of thieves with a mouthful of purified water.  I keep a larger mixture for sanitizing my toothbrush and brushing after oil pulling.

AM I CRAZY?

Yes, maybe a little about my HEALTH.  You should be too, no?
