Donut Muffins

I love fall, but I really love fall food!
Apples, apple cider donuts, and apple cider are my top faves.
So while I am on the hunt for the ultimate apple cider donut recipe..
I figured I’d try a few recipes that may be close and then figure it out from there.
I’m sure no one will mind taste testing!!
This recipe has been circulating the net for some time now,
and I can’t believe I haven’t tried it until now.
I feel it could use a little less nutmeg,
and that fall apple flavor to give it that fall donut flavor.
These are AMAZING, but I’m
really trying to associate it with apple cider donuts.

Muffins

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Coating

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F

  2. Mix together the muffin ingredients until just combined.

  3. Fill greased muffin tins about halfway filled.

  4. Bake muffins 15-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  5. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar coat, do not mix in the butter, leave separate.

  6. Once muffins are done baking remove from muffin pan and dip into melted butter.

  7. After dipping into the melted butter coat the muffins with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
