2016 Hyundai Elantra GT

We had the 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT for a week thanks to Hyundai and Driveshop.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra is a compact car that we definitely recommend you consider. It’s great for small families or even a first car. With my daughter’s car seat and my husband driving, we were still able to sit quite comfortably in the back and front seats. Since she’s rear facing it was a little more cramped in the front for a taller person, however I’m 5’2″ and it wasn’t an issue for me.

The style is fun and cute! I love the big grill in the front and of course the 17″ alloy wheels.

The Hyundai Elantra is definitely affordable as well. This exact configuration cost: $26,675. Base starting at $19,800.

That means you get a nice car without breaking the bank.

This included specs we love like:

  • Hyundai’s generous warranty
  • Driver’s Blind Spot Mirror / My sister is leasing a new vehicle for $$$ and it doesn’t have this!
  • iPod and auxiliary input jacks
  • Heated front seats
  • Front fog lights
  • Aluminum pedals
  • Leather seating

It was nice to drive around with my daughter. She actually likes smaller cars because she said she can hear me more. I could easily hand her a water bottle in arms reach, when stopped of course! Some other cars I’d have to move my seat back or even get out and just give her the water. I’m a big stickler on not having anything in the car seat that’s not soft unless someone is back there with her.

The trunk size was spacious too. You could easily fit a stroller and groceries into the back.

Did we mention it has LED taillights too? Pretty impressive for the price tag. We’re actually car shopping now and half of the cars we’re looking at in this price range do not include these features we love.

The 2015 Hyundai Elantra scored a top safety pick from IIHS, but the 2016 did not, despite getting the same scores. We think that both years deserve it! It’s a safe and reliable car for singles and small families.
