2015 Mazda CX-5 Review

We were given the chance to review the 2015 Mazda CX-5 for a week.

I’m still in a lease with my current car and actively looking for our next lease.  Having driven a Mazda when I was a nanny I love the ride already.  My main concern for our next lease is safety and price.  We reviewed the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD  and the price tag of this configuration is $31,760. (Starting at $21,545)

The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave the 2014 Mazda CX-5 TOP SAFETY PICK+ when equipped with available Smart City Brake Support.  The Mazda earn good scores all around, including the small overlap front.  Our previous choice just received a poor in the small overlap front test, so now we’re most likely leasing the Mazda, which isn’t a bad thing at all.  I’m pretty much sold on this car and may even finance if the price is right after negotiating.

In the 8 years of moving over an hour away from my family I have not once driven down the turnpike to visit.  I’m not a fan of driving on the turnpike and have avoided it for years.  One thing that changed that was THIS car.  I felt so confident driving it, and extremely safe.  Not only do the safety features outweigh my car, but the ride is comfortable for long trips.  I also appreciate that it gets 26mpg combined city and highway.  (24 city – 30 highway)

My family was shocked that I drove down on my own – I was too!  If I get this car they will definitely be seeing me a LOT more.

The blind spot monitoring system can be a lifesaver.  Not only did it alert me I couldn’t switch lanes, but it also alerted me when someone was about to come into MY lane.  Priceless feature!  *you shouldn’t solely rely on this feature, always check on your own too.

our favorite features:

  • blind spot monitoring
  • variable rain sensing wipers
  • bose sound system
  • all wheel drive
  • heated front seats – although we wish it was heated in the back too!
  • 5.8″ color touch-screen display
  • large cargo space

There’s a few things I would have liked to see like a larger moon roof, seat memory, and I do wish the side view mirrors were a tad bit larger or more of the traditional shape.  Other than that this vehicle will most likely be mine in September
